Wonderful post! As a Jersey girl, I do love the gold and ornate decorations! I think of people trying their best to convey the splendor of God and of course, falling short, but still trying their best anyway. Why not gold, there?

I thought it was timely, too, Jody. Did I tell you I wrote it almost two years ago, in August of 2014? It was the centenary of the beginning of World War I, and that month the world was awash in violence. Everywhere I went people were looking at one another through fear-fogged eyes. Revising this post these past weeks, weeks awash in violence, reminded me that nothing has changed. And nothing will. Unless we do.
